In today’s constantly evolving geopolitical ecosystem analysis is needed as new conflicts and tensions emerge, military modernization efforts evolve, and networks of allies and adversaries shift. Our work in this area includes wargaming projects; net assessments of competitor forces, capabilities, and strategies; and analysis on emerging military capabilities, including AI decision support tools, hypersonics, quantum sensing, and novel space technologies.

Despite some that view the era of arms control as over, efforts to develop and maintain governance and safety pathways for emerging technologies continue. Our work in this area addresses both the opportunities and risks of new technology. We focus on analysis that not only identifies risks of varied emerging technologies, but also examines past, current, and present governance avenues that might be leveraged to reduce such risks.

As governments engage in efforts to grow and secure innovation pipelines in their respective economies via strategic investments (e.g., the CHIPS Act), we examine the role of the private sector in national security, and the variety of policy levers at the disposal of governments across the globe to shape their domestic markets and foster innovation.
